Our Top Five Destinations in Australia
Australia has a wealth of magnificent locations, here are our pick of the best:
Uluru, Northern Territory
Known as the spiritual heart of Australia, Uluru is having a comeback with more tourists flocking to this incredible location. Gone are the days where a visit to Uluru meant climbing the monolith, snapping a picture or two and heading back home. While you can still scale the big red rock if the weather permits, many visitors choose to explore the base and its walkways and rock art galleries instead.
Uluru has embraced its indigenous roots, with an indigenous market in town square, and activities such as didgeridoo playing, spear and boomerang throwing, guided walks, storytelling and performances from the enthralling Wakagetti Indigenous Dance troupe. In a recent article in Traveller.com.au, Rick Stein, English Celebrity Chef reminisced about his favourite part of visiting Uluru was enjoying dinner at the base whilst the stars twinkled overhead. He said there was “nothing like it anywhere else in the world”.
The Mornington Peninsula, Victoria
Beyond the urban jungle that is Melbourne lies the charming Mornington Peninsula, famous for its cute colourful beachside bathing boxes that line the seaside. The calm beaches and coastal bush walks are popular with visitors, and foodies should tour around the peninsula’s orchards and vineyards and enjoy a winery lunch.
Byron Bay, New South Wales
The unique vibe of Byron Bay is what makes this coastal town so famous; think chilled back surfer culture meets bohemian hippie chic. This thriving spot draws plenty of tourists, but the locals are dedicated to preserving the small town atmosphere that Byron Bay is famous for. Take a wander to Cape Byron State Conservation Park and enjoy the spectacular views from the summit, head off on a kayaking trip and make friends with the dolphins or if you’re a thrill seeker go on the tandem sky dive.

Home to some of Australia’s most stunning natural landscapes, Tasmania’s East Coast’s natural beauty presents a unique Australian coastal experience. Avid divers will appreciate sheer rock walls and deep fissures, and seafood lovers will be in their element, as the two largest towns on the east coast are both busy fishing ports. Freycinet National Park is also worth a visit, with pink granite peaks, numerous specious of birdlife and secluded bays.
